Hi everyone!!! I hope your day yesterday was great! I had a fantastic time, my fiancee and I took our darling puppies (well their like 2 years old) to the spit, which is a dog friendly beach. They're not much of a fan of water, but deep down I know they enjoyed cooling off. On the way home, we were listening to the radio, catching up on what the rest of Australia did...
Firstly, R.I.P. the motorcyclist you died at Edens Landing yesterday! That's horrible, running red lights wont get you where you have to go any faster...except if you're wanting to be 6" under that is.
Anyway, the fellas on the radio were talking about the Sam Kekovich and his "Eat Lamb on Australia Day" campaigns that basically say, if you don't eat lamb then you're not a true Australian. Luke on Hot Tomato didn't agree that Lamb was our true National Food - he knew that it was just the Advertising companies telling us it was and he decided to actually think for himself to find our most iconic food. A food that truly says, I'm Australian.
I didn't really agree with them on their end results which was Lamb Sausage on Bread (because they weren't going to agree amongst themselves so they just compromised). Luke broke away from the Advertising scandal that's warping our brains and came up with his version of Australia's most iconic food: Sausage on Bread that you get from out the front of Bunnings...That was a pretty good answer, even though I'm a vegetarian. I truly miss getting a sanga from Bunnings on a Sunday morning with onion, tomato sauce and mustard. If only they get some vego sausages!!! I think we should choose an animal charity and go out the front of a Bunnings and sell vego sausages on bread!! The vegetarians and vegans out there can too experience the true Australianism of sangas from Bunnings! lol.
There are so many foods that symbolise Australia and all the ones that people think of are MEAT!!!
Kangaroo, Emu (Keegan did say that we're probably the only nation that eats their coat of arms) Sausage, Lamb.....Prawns, etc....
They didn't once come up with....Damper (recipe from Bambi's Bows and Baking blog), Lamingtons (a guy at the spit was eating a lamington and was like, You can't not have a lamington on Australia Day), Vegemite, Anzac biscuits, Pavlova......lots of Australian Foods!!! (or foods that we've adopted, lol)
So, I highly disagree that LAMB is our most ICONIC AUSTRALIAN FOOD: Us "jobless, dirty, pot-smoking hippies" should band together to change this False Assumption...
HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY (for yesterday)

Unlike some of you would assume, the term, "Let's Paint the Town Red" does not relate at all to mass murdering of towns or in older times, Indians. In fact, I have decided to use this phrase as the name of my blog to offer an invitation for You, the reader, to join me in my journey...or spree as you will and with others of like mind to love, cherish and enjoy each day of life through my rose tinted glasses.
To begin, I would LOVE to share with you my drawing I did today.
